James Bravo called. Heavy foreign accent. Said that DirecTV (Promotions Dept.) wanted to upgrade my equipment so I'd never again lose the satellite signal, etc. Upgrade would be free and also a $20 reduction in my monthly bill and would give extra $10 discount, making it $30 discount for 15 months. Gave me a callback #203-350-9750, x-8027. Said new boxes would be delivered Friday, 6/5/2020 and I must be home. Would collect the old boxes later so I shouldn't discard ($400 value). It would be $150 one time fee and I would receive a call back within 24 hours to complete the work order. I researched the number on my computer while I spoke with him and saw the Beware of SCAM. I told the caller that I had searched the number and it was a scam; he wanted to argue. I hung up.
If you call them back they will answer the phone as AT&T / DIrect TV and sound very professional but if you call AT&T's number they never heard of the offer.
A James Bravo called me. Very heavy accent was going to up grade because we had old consoles. my bill was going to be discounted by $60. Wanted CC number for verification. I refused to give. I hung up on this guy 3 times and he kept calling back. I called AT&T and yes it is a SCAM!!!
Caller said they were from Direct TV and needed to replace my receiver to high definition. This was credible because Direct TV is replacing old receivers. I gave him too much information and did not become suspicious until he requested a credit card number. ATT does not ask for a credit card # for an established account. They already have it. Never give credit card information unless you check the official business number and you have initiated the call. This guy was good.

Daniel called telling me Direct TV wanted to upgrade my equipment. He had the last four of my AX account but then said he needed a different card. I told him I don't give out that information he gave me a number to call back 203-350-9750 ext 8013. Direct TV said it was not them.
"John" called. Heavy foreign accent. Tried to say AT&T was upgrading my Direct TV receivers so I'd never again lose the satellite signal, etc. Upgrade would be free and also a $20 reduction in my monthly cost. Gave me a callback #203-350-9750, x-8019. Asked for updated credit card info, which I did not give. Checked with AT&T and this call was not from them. Beware of this scam!
